Sworn Translation  EN<>ES

For certain documents to be legally or administratively valid before official bodies in a country other than their country of origin, they must be certified by a sworn translator. My appointment as such by the Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation enables me to handle these official documents. You can receive your sworn translations either on paper or as digitally-signed files.

As a general rule, it is recommended to translate into one’s native language, which in my case is from English into Spanish. However, translations in the opposite direction (from Spanish into English) are sometimes possible, depending on the translator’s familiarity with the type of text. Thanks to my extensive career, I have in-depth knowledge of certain types of documents, for which I do offer this service. I also work in collaboration with a native English colleague to ensure accuracy and quality.

Nevertheless, to prevent any complications, I always advise my clients to confirm with the relevant authority whether sworn translations certified by a Spanish translator are accepted.

There are a wide variety of occassions in which it is neccessary to hire the services of a sworn translator, such as when applying for a Spanish visa, a residence permit, or Spanish nationality; when homologating or validating foreign diplomas and certificates; or in international judicial proceedings.

The documents that most commonly require a sworn translation are listed below.
